This is an automated non – invasive computer based system which provides a snap shot to the health of the individual.
It measures this from the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The heart rate can vary on a micro-scale when certain postural changes occur. This can be as simple as when a individual goes from lying to standing. It does this from the heart rate variability analysis (HRV).
When you measure a heart rate it can be used as a indicator to assess the health of an individual. As successful as it is on reflection it is still a general indicator, it doesn’t provide enough detail.
This is where nerve express was developed to help.
When you look at the heart rate in micro detail it doesn’t beat in a steady rate but has great differences in its rate of beating. It actually oscillates around as mean frequency in a statistical fashion. For example 80 beats a minute is not steady with micro detail the interval between each heart rate varies substantially from beat to beat.
With more variability there is, the more fit and healthy that person is.
So this means that two people with the same 80 beats per minute could differ enormously in their state of health depending on their personal heart rate variability.
With that degree of variability it can also be related to that individuals (ANS) balance. So the behaviour of the sympathetic (fight or flight/stress) and parasympathetic (rest, digest, healing) branches reflect how we respond, adapt and recover on a daily basis or in essence how we move through life.
We are much like an automobile driving through this obstacle course of life, so to speak. How well do we use our accelerator and gas (SNS Response), how good are our brakes (PSNS Recovery), how well do we manoeuvre around traffic (Adaptability) and what is the wear and tear rate in doing so (Resilience)? With the examination of one’s heart rhythm pattern, a clearly visual HRV “wave portrait” or fingerprint of an individual’s regulation process can be ascertained.
Benefits of HRV Testing
- Evaluate the current activity of the stress/restoring nature of the autonomic nervous system
- Evaluate how the individual is coping with their current state of health and how they are coping with stress load
- Document the impact of illness, dysfunction, physical and emotional stress
- Track the effect of therapies, medicaments and other therapies
- Measure and monitor performance and fitness
- Optimise and customise therapeutic protocols
- Follow aging process
- Probe for early detection and intervention
